If you
haven’t noticed lately, take a moment to look at the number of books, articles,
websites, etc… that are trying to wake up Americans to what is going on in our
country. Why is that? Many recognize one problem or another, and
there are many suggestions as to the way to “fix” this great nation we live
in. Some of the material written is better
than other. There is diversity in how we
view our nation today and what we think our “tomorrows” will look like.
There
is a distinct quality in this book, which separates it from others I have read
thus far. The change that needs to be
brought to America will come through us.
Each individual makes decisions multiple times during any day. Though not all decisions are remembered, they
all bring consequences. Who are those
impacted by these decisions? Well, as
the author places before us, the impact is experienced in all areas of our
lives as well as in the lives of others both seen and unseen.
God is
The One who can use us to bring about a change that glorifies Him. To do so we must look at our own individual
life and submit it to Him and His Word.
We must recognize His authority as the one and only authority that has
the power to change us and to change the world.
No one can decide for us. We all
must decide whom we will listen to, how we will act, and if we will obey the
Word of God.
The
author shares how God radically changed his life, and he shares the principles
he learned to change his life 180 degrees.
While I think the book has merit and many things to seriously consider,
some of his theological bent I didn’t agree with. However, this book will encourage you,
convict you perhaps and call you to a place of decision. Be the One! shows how individual
actions, words, beliefs, and more affect the nation collectively. There is a plea at the end of each chapter to
be the one, who, regardless of the cost or whether anyone goes with you or not,
decides to make changes. There are also
thought provoking questions for discussion at the end of every chapter with the
hope that the book, ideas, and changes will be shared with others and not kept
private.
In my
view the book rates a 4-star for honesty, call to change for the benefit of our
great nation, and once again showing that God is the answer! Consider reading this book and discussing it
with a couple of other people perhaps, maybe even hold another accountable to
the decisions made as individuals as a result of this book. Accountability can help us stay the path when
we are most tempted to stop because of the high cost or failing in one area or
another. Read the book, prayerfully
consider what God is saying to you and be the one who loves Him with all that
you are, all that you have, and all that you do. Do this for your own walk with God and to
change the course of America.
