What an unusual book this is both in the format and content, neither makes it bad at all.  What are your expectations of this book?  What are you hoping to learn?  My reason for reading it was to be better enabled to understand the life of a pastor as well as the many ways that simple words can bring such unexpected changes.  Most people go into ministry to try to bring change, serve, and grow with many other expectations and dreams; Tim Cooper is no different.
Beginning in his early years until the passing of his uncle, you are going to read of an exchange of emails, yet more than that, an exchange of hearts.  Tim would write to his Uncle Eldon who pastored at the same church for 40 years.  His uncle was a man who encouraged his nephew.  The relationship they shared was more than mentoring, it went beyond family ties, and it is eternal.  There are also included emails between various members of Tim’s congregation that show their thoughts about him, the church, and each other.  Everyone can learn from this book what influence we all have on others.  Some we might be glad of while others we might be sorrowful over.  Yet, when you read this book, you will catch hope that even “Pastors” have needs, hurts, desires, and long for others to be in a relationship that helps them stay faithful until the end.  Now faithful until the end doesn’t mean when their time at a congregation is over, but when they are leaving this earth and heading home to Jesus forever.
Perhaps as you read this what is written may surprise, convict or cause you to remember that we are meant to encourage one another.  Maybe as you read this, if you have been a church member for any length of time, memories of some of the same type of experiences will be stirred up.  Whatever may be gained from reading this short book, just remember it isn’t written to be a formula or handbook.  Tim shares his heart, allowing himself to be very transparent as a human being.  The challenge I see is the need for all of us to have someone in our life who prays for us, shares life with us, challenges as well as exhort us to grow in the Lord.  The other great need is to be willing to be transparent and open with each other so we may all finish the race well and bring glory to the Lord.  So are you willing to be that person for someone who needs this kind of relationship?  Are you willing to allow someone to speak truth in love to you, share life with you, pray for you, and more?  Personally, I have that type of relationship and it has various seasons.  However, we are both glad that God has given us each other as a gift, and I hope you allow God to use you as a His gift to someone else and vice versa.
My rating is 3 ½ stars.

This whole series is so worth reading! They excel at suspense and grabbing the heart of the reader, pulling them into the plethora of happenings in the book. The series has a total of four books that can be read as stand-alone stories though I found reading them in order helped enhance my understanding of the plot and characters.
The titles in order are: Convenient Lies, Twisted Lies followed by Generous Lies, which comes before this final novel I am sharing my thoughts on today.Robin weaves such a well-crafted plot that brings the reader into the story from the first page, and then keep turning the pages with all the twists and turns in the plot.I felt like I was right there observing what was happening around me even though I was reading the book.
Time flew by quickly and I was unaware of what was going on around me because I was lost in the pages!Right th…
