Duane Chicoine is the historical fiction pen name of author
Steve Chicoine. Chicoine is the author of two well-regarded nonfiction
books on the Civil War: THE CONFEDERATES OF CHAPPELL HILL, TEXAS (McFarland)
and JOHN BASIL TURCHIN AND THE FIGHT TO FREE THE SLAVES (Praeger). You

Chicoine also wrote and published OUR HALLOWED GROUND: THE WORLD WAR II
VETERANS OF FORT SNELLING NATIONAL CEMETERY (University of Minnesota Press), as
well as other books on the Holocaust, immigration, travel and culture. He
was born and raised in the Midwest, holds a graduate degree from Stanford
University and lived for a number of years in Texas. He has
adventure-traveled throughout the world, including Siberia, Central Asia, Tibet
and Southeast Asia. He is involved in public speaking. His most
recent event was at the Minneapolis VA Home for Veterans Day 2012. He will
be speaking at the December event of the World War Two History Round Table.
He is currently is writing on two book projects - a creative nonfiction
project on a World War II combat experience and the story of his life
experiences while pursuing the story of a Holocaust heroine, interwoven with an
account of her incredible life.
