Title:  Expendables
Author:  Pat Miller
Pages:  278
Year:  2012
Publisher:  Westbow Press
There is some suspense, intrigue, and a huge mystery.  There are parts of the story that will keep you turning pages until you finish the book!  I want to tell you so much about the novel, but I don’t want to spoil the enjoyment of reading it.  What I can share with you is that there is a female protagonist who leads a very quiet life and enjoys spending time alone.  Jenny’s life wasn’t typical or the same as her friends because her parents’ life was so secretive.  Until recently, Jenny never even had a clue as to what they did.
Normally Jenny doesn’t make spontaneous decisions; she makes one now that begins to change her life.  As each day passes Jenny learns something major is going on that until recently she was clueless about.  Her parents were murdered, yet she doesn’t remember what the findings were of the investigation done by NTSB.
Jenny’s grandmother shares the most important person in life with her, that being Jesus Christ.  Her grandmother comes to spend time with Jenny on the farm as life not only begins to unravel, but now another complication has been added to the mix.  Will Jenny ever learn to trust another person let alone a man?
I couldn’t put this story down until the last page.  It is far more than a “who done it”.  There are characters that are cloaked as being sweet yet turn out to be evil.  Some of the characters are exactly who they say they are, but how is Jenny to know?  Her faith muscles are tested and stretched in some of the harshest of events.  The little community church where Jenny attends goes all out to help put her life together when normally she has done it by herself for years after her farm house was torn apart.
Will Jenny find true love that won’t turn out to be something it isn’t?  How will the future be different when Jenny has to learn to care for a new life?  There is an element of different branches of the government being involved in the investigation, but just who is under their surveillance?  Anyone who reads this novel will thoroughly enjoy it and will want to share it with friends.  I can’t help but be impressed by the plot, scenes, action, adventure, characters, and all the rest that went into writing this tale.  Grab something to drink, sit in your comfortable chair and get ready for a wild ride!
My rating is 5 stars.

This whole series is so worth reading! They excel at suspense and grabbing the heart of the reader, pulling them into the plethora of happenings in the book. The series has a total of four books that can be read as stand-alone stories though I found reading them in order helped enhance my understanding of the plot and characters.
The titles in order are: Convenient Lies, Twisted Lies followed by Generous Lies, which comes before this final novel I am sharing my thoughts on today.Robin weaves such a well-crafted plot that brings the reader into the story from the first page, and then keep turning the pages with all the twists and turns in the plot.I felt like I was right there observing what was happening around me even though I was reading the book.
Time flew by quickly and I was unaware of what was going on around me because I was lost in the pages!Right th…
