Redeeming Grace Review

Title:  Redeeming Grace
Author:  Ward Tanneberg
Pages:  597
Year:  2013
Publisher:  Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas
Ward Tanneberg has written a captivating, edge-of-your-seat thriller!  The story is set in modern day Palm Springs, California, at the beginning with flashbacks to Georgia and South Carolina, ending up in present day South Carolina.  Suspense and action take place on most pages to keep the reader hooked!
Grace Grafton and her two best friends are getting ready to receive their master degrees from college in a week.  For a day of fun and shopping, they head to River Street.  While taking a break from the heat, they meet Terry Reynolds, a nice guy trying to please his boss by finding some female companionship for the evening…just for dinner, nothing else.  The three girls agree and are provided with fancy dresses and $1000 each for their time.  They are picked up by a yacht and taken to a private residence on a remote island.  After dinner and drinks, things begin to spiral downhill.  Apparently the three male guests do indeed expect something more than dinner conversation with the women.  The women protest.  What can they do as they are stranded on an island?  How can they get away?  More than one crime is committed, forcing Grace to leave the island alone, on foot, then swimming through crocodile-infested rivers.  What happened to her friends?
Taylor Carroll works at a furniture store and has been seriously dating a pastor, Brad Weston, for over a year.  He has asked her to marry him twice before, but she has refused.  What is holding her back?  He now asks a third time and she really wants to say yes.  She decides to tell him about her past and the big secret she has been keeping from him.  She asks for two days to think about things and get her thoughts in order and then she will give him her answer to his proposal.  Before the two days are up, Brad is kidnapped.  Then, his two children are kidnapped as well.  Taylor receives a phone call letting her know Brad has been kidnapped and what “they” want from her to free him.  She can’t go to the police or any other authority figure or Brad will be killed.  What can she do to get him free safely but cooperate?  What follows is more action with a great supporting cast of characters that help her find out who is responsible for the kidnappings.  Also, included are a crooked politician and an evil, wealthy businessman who have their eyes on the White House.  Can Taylor trust in God fully with her secret?  Can she ever escape the guilt she feels?
Don’t let the length of the book put you off from reading it.  The pages fly by as you will become fully involved in this suspenseful story.  There were several typos in the book and that is the only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars.
My rating is 4.5 stars.
