Love at any Cost

Title:  Love at Any Cost
Author:  Julie Lessman
Pages:  416
Year:  2013
Publisher:  Revell
Romance novels are usually not high on my reading list.  Why?  Most of the novels tend to make love just an emotion or center on the physical aspect.  In other words, there is no real depth to the tale.  However, when I read this novel from start to finish, I saw what difference romance novels can be when God is the foremost aspect of a relationship.  Julie Lessman writes authentically as she doesn’t have her characters all pristine and the scenes or characters seem far from any perception of reality.  In this book, characters are challenged to put their love and trust in God first and foremost, especially when the romance begins without the other person trusting God at all.
There is the aspect of accountability between some of the characters to wait for God’s choice of a mate.  I liked that Julie accurately shows just how hard as well as painful that can really be in her fiction that mirrors reality.  Another aspect of mystery is introduced the further the reader delves into the story.  One very thought-provoking truth is the choice characters have to make not to rely on themselves or each other, but choose to rely on God.  Some of them have to see how God provides for them when they think it is through their own efforts when the desired results come about.
In the tale, we read about the heartache that is brought by deceit, selfishness, and seeking momentary pleasures.  What is the cost of such actions?  What is the cost of letting God love each of us?  Are any of us as willing to lay down our pride for the love that never leaves, forsakes or abandons us?  Included in the story is the aspect of forgiveness, and not the simple unmeaning kind of,” I am sorry” that is spoken without heart.  Instead, really looking and working through the emotions and realizing the truth that forgiveness is a choice and that the healing of heart and more take time is depicted here.
Yes, I could tell you about the story with the character names and all, but authors can write stories that are meant to capture the reader’s attention.  Julie Lessman wrote an excellent story that goes beyond emotional romance to God’s romancing us by never giving up even when we walk away or fail.  I liked the accountability aspect, praying and studying the Word and community of believers as integral parts of walking in a relationship with the Lord.
We all like stories from various authors with limitless possible outcomes or endings.  Fiction or nonfiction can be thought-provoking and entertaining.  Authors use their God-given gift, talent and imagination when writing.  Those who write fiction pointing to the Lord, like this brilliantly written novel, show us the Author of the Bible.  Enjoy reading the various fictional works produced, but please never neglect or replace your time in the Bible with anything else, no matter how good it is.  Only His Word never returns void.
                My rating is 5+ stars.

My rating is 5 out of 5 stars.
This whole series is so worth reading! They excel at suspense and grabbing the heart of the reader, pulling them into the plethora of happenings in the book. The series has a total of four books that can be read as stand-alone stories though I found reading them in order helped enhance my understanding of the plot and characters.
The titles in order are: Convenient Lies, Twisted Lies followed by Generous Lies, which comes before this final novel I am sharing my thoughts on today.Robin weaves such a well-crafted plot that brings the reader into the story from the first page, and then keep turning the pages with all the twists and turns in the plot.I felt like I was right there observing what was happening around me even though I was reading the book.
Time flew by quickly and I was unaware of what was going on around me because I was lost in the pages!Right th…
