Stress Test By Richard Malby M. D.

Title:  Stress Test

Stress Test is a captivating story that will reach in, grab a hold and not let go until the end.  This is a contemporary fictional story set in Dallas, Texas.  It is a medical/legal suspense tale with a plot that gets more intriguing with each page turned.  Richard Mabry is a fantastic storyteller!
Sandra Murray is billed as the “best defense attorney in the state”.  She is extremely good at her job and gives her clients 110%.  She also is somewhat of an oddity in that she is a practicing Christian as well.  She left her job with a prestigious law firm as they wanted her to not be so “churchy”.  She told them to forget it and started her own firm.  She has a close relationship with her assistant and has just ended a 1-year relationship with a doctor, vowing to never get involved with a doctor again.  Then, she is hired by Matt, who challenges her recently made vow.
Matt Newman is a doctor who has just sold his private practice to take a teaching position in the medical field.  He has a steady girlfriend, who he thinks might be “the one”.  His life is looking good until he leaves work late one night and…the plot zooms into action from there so hold on!  Matt is close to his brother, but he is far away on the mission field.  His brother is always encouraging him to trust God as He is in control.  Matt has strayed from his Christian upbringing, but hasn’t turned his back on God completely.  He has just kind of drifted away.  Now, as he faces crisis after crisis, he realizes he can’t succeed in this life on his own.  He must trust in the God of his upbringing.  Matt even has the chance to share his renewed faith.  As Matt faces criminal accusations, he hires Sandra to defend him.  Soon he realizes he feels more for her than an attorney-client relationship.  Does she feel the same?  Will his life ever return to normal?  Will he ever be able to practice medicine again?
This was my first time reading any of Richard Mabry’s books, and I can tell you it won’t be the last!  This book was fantastic from start to finish.  I couldn’t put it down; I had to see what would happen next.  This is definitely an edge-of-your-seat, action-filled story with elements of romance, faith and trust interwoven.  I can’t wait to read his next book being released in October 2013 titled, Heart Failure.  I just love it when a story is so compelling and the characters so interesting that I must read on to see how relationships, problems and characters develop.  Kudos Richard!  Great job!!
My rating is 5+ stars.
