The Hidden Son

Title:  The Hidden Son (The Cayman Islands Trilogy #1)
Author:  Dianna T. Benson
Pages:  331
Year:  2012
Publisher:  Ellechor Publishing House
Dianna T. Benson has written an awesome debut novel!  If you like nonstop action, suspense with some romance, this is definitely the book for you.  This is one for your “keeper” bookshelf.  I am so thankful to the Lord for giving me the time to enjoy the blessing of reading books, especially when they can draw me into the story as thoroughly as this one did.
Detective Alec Dyer is now working for the Royal Cayman Island Police Department after being put on extended leave of absence from the Fort Lauderdale Police Department.  He became too erratic and unpredictable following the disappearance of his 16-year-old daughter.  He was and is still obsessed with her case, but now he has learned to function well at his job and work the case on the side.  He now is sent to investigate a death involving a federal agent.  She is evasive and her story has lots of holes in it.  He doesn’t trust her, but he is drawn to her.  Now is not the time for him to start dating, especially the only suspect in his murder case!  However, the better he gets to know this agent, the more he begins to believe her outlandish story.  He follows her to see what she is up to as well as protect her.  Soon they are thrown together and on the run for both their lives.
Lelisa Desmond is a top-notch federal agent for the DEA.  Her boss, a former military hero, gives her the unprecedented order to bury evidence in her most recent case.  She refuses so he tells her to take a vacation to think things through.  Once she arrives in the Cayman Islands, bad things begin to happen.  Is there really someone out to kill her?  Her partner has turned his back on her to obey their boss so she can’t trust him.  She can’t trust anybody, especially those in law enforcement and that includes Alec Dyer.  She’s got to get back home to Raleigh, North Carolina, to get the evidence her boss thinks he has destroyed.  She made copies and has hidden them in different locations.  Now, all she has to do is get home in one piece and get the evidence to the Attorney General of the United States.  However, her boss has other plans for her and they don’t include surviving that long.
The characters are well done and ones you are rooting for to win the fight of good versus bad.  There many tense situations the characters find themselves in, which keeps the pages turning quickly.  There is a surprise toward the end of the book.  I couldn’t put this one down!  It was that good!  This was the first of this author’s books I have read, but it won’t be the last.  I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series.  Great job Dianna!!
                My rating is 5 stars.

This whole series is so worth reading! They excel at suspense and grabbing the heart of the reader, pulling them into the plethora of happenings in the book. The series has a total of four books that can be read as stand-alone stories though I found reading them in order helped enhance my understanding of the plot and characters.
The titles in order are: Convenient Lies, Twisted Lies followed by Generous Lies, which comes before this final novel I am sharing my thoughts on today.Robin weaves such a well-crafted plot that brings the reader into the story from the first page, and then keep turning the pages with all the twists and turns in the plot.I felt like I was right there observing what was happening around me even though I was reading the book.
Time flew by quickly and I was unaware of what was going on around me because I was lost in the pages!Right th…
