Severed Trust

Title:  Severed Trust (Men of the Texas Rangers Book #4)
Author:  Margret Daley
Pages:  320
Year:  2013
Publisher:  Abingdon
The other novels in this series, which I have read, are outstanding and are titled, Saving Hope, Shattered Silence and Scorned Justice.  This is a breathtaking, heart-racing work of fiction with the action centered on a group of teens partying with alcohol and stolen prescription drugs.  Running alongside that plot is the mysterious death of a student.  With no evidence or leads, the law is looking at all possibilities.  As the tale progresses, home situations, drug theft, lives being in peril with still no clear answers are just a few ingredients that will keep the audience turning pages late into the night!
For me, it wasn’t until the last couple of pages that the clues and possible subjects along with motive began to come together.  It was intriguing the way true romance along with the theme of forgiveness was woven into the writing.  While a couple of the teenage characters were victims of threats and bullying, seeing some of the same and different teens turn towards the Lord while evil lurked in the hallways was refreshing.
Margret Daley is a truly inspiring writer with novels that reflect current events in society.  She brings hope, healing and the Lord into her works.  Reading novels that have Texas Rangers in them is a favorite pastime of mine because of the long history these brave men have.  In this particular book, we see a single mom work hard to raise her twins and go to college in order to take care of her children.  Another single parent has turned to other avenues, and while she provides for her daughter, she is mainly absent.
There are some places in the story with sobering endings to some of the fictional characters, but this never distracts from the story.  If anything, the author uses the tragedies as a foundation for ways in which her adult characters can reach out to the teens they encounter every day.  Along with that is the call for parents to be aware of what their kids are really doing plus who their friends are that may influence them down the wrong or right path.
Enjoy Severed Trust along with the other three books in this particular series as each one brings hope, enjoyment in reading and reminders that the Lord never leaves us.  To me, it appears this could be the last novel in this series, though I truly hope not as I have absorbed each one as they were released!  However, knowing this talented author, I am sure she has her next project already lined up and ready for her readers to enjoy.
My rating is 5+ stars.
