Aloha Rose

Title:  Aloha Rose (Quilts of Love Series)
Author:  Lisa Carter

Kai Barnes is an ex-soldier, living in Hawaii.  He has retired from the military, suffering from PTSD.  He lives on the family ranch and is trying desperately to get the family out of debt.  The last thing he needs is to play tour guide to a young woman who may or may not be related to his foster family.  Kai is very protective of his family and wonders exactly what this woman is up to.  He finds her to be stubborn, compassionate, feisty, and pretty and maybe someone he could love, if he was looking for love, which he most definitely is not!
Laney Carrigan was left on the doorstep of her adoptive parents’ home when she was just a few months old and wrapped in a quilt with Hawaiian flowers on it.  Her father posts the picture on the internet and the next day a response is received.  So Laney flies to Hawaii to meet her birth family.  She doesn’t expect a tall, dark and handsome cowboy to pick her up at the airport or to have him be so suspicious of her and arrogant.  After spending more time with Kai, she discovers another side of this cowboy.  She didn’t come to Hawaii looking for romance, but she can’t control what she feels for him.  Laney has always longed to feel accepted for who she is and her Hawaiian family appears to makes this a reality.  She knows her adoptive parents loved her and she had a good life, but to her there always seemed to be something missing.  Is this family really where she belongs now permanently?  What about her job?
This story showcases two people who are searching to find a place to belong.  Kai has a wonderful life with his foster family, but still clings to guilt and fear from his past that he lets determine his future.  Laney struggles with feelings from what she views as the abandonment of her birth mother, even though she loves her adoptive family.  Both characters must face their fears and realize to Whom they really belong to and Who holds them in the palm of His hand.  The romance between Kai and Laney has great chemistry and humor.  I loved the one-liners and teasing comments that abound in the story.  I look forward to reading more stories by this author.  Please pick up a copy of this easy-to-read story and enjoy an escape to Hawaii for a tropical romance!

This whole series is so worth reading! They excel at suspense and grabbing the heart of the reader, pulling them into the plethora of happenings in the book. The series has a total of four books that can be read as stand-alone stories though I found reading them in order helped enhance my understanding of the plot and characters.
The titles in order are: Convenient Lies, Twisted Lies followed by Generous Lies, which comes before this final novel I am sharing my thoughts on today.Robin weaves such a well-crafted plot that brings the reader into the story from the first page, and then keep turning the pages with all the twists and turns in the plot.I felt like I was right there observing what was happening around me even though I was reading the book.
Time flew by quickly and I was unaware of what was going on around me because I was lost in the pages!Right th…
