Spin by Darcie J. Gudger

Title:  Spin (Guarded Book #1)
Author:  Darcie J. Gudger
Pages:  364
Year:  2014

Hilarious, heartbreaking and honest are just a few words I can say about this great book from Darcie Gudger.  The story has a contemporary setting and is about a teenage girl in high school, facing bullying from just about everyone and her journey toward forgiveness.
Kisrie Kelley is in high school now, but has been tormented by Wendy Wetz since kindergarten.  Wendy has harassed, bullied, humiliated, and physically hurt Kisrie so Kisrie has long since stopped telling her parents or anyone else in authority about the bullying.  No one seems to be able to do anything about it.  Wendy always seems to be able to wiggle out of being found guilty of the deed.  She often enlists others to do her dirty work, so she can never be blamed.
Now, Wendy has received a bad grade on an English paper that threatens to lower her GPA.  Wendy’s dream is to win a beauty pageant and win a scholarship to college so she can escape the terrible home life she must endure.  Wendy’s revenge starts a chain reaction that has horrible consequences for several people.  Kisrie must decide what she will stand for and Who she will let guide her in the midst of the very worst time of her life.
This book is achingly poignant as well as laugh out loud funny.  The author knows her teenage subjects well and depicts the characters accurately and embodies them with personalities readers can identify with.  I didn’t like Kisrie’s mother; I found her to be cold and showed favoritism toward her younger daughter.  I know that is a reality in some homes, so it was right that she be portrayed that way.  The journey Kisrie goes through is painful and not just in a physical sense.  She must wrestle with some very difficult issues and emotions as a young teenager.  I found this book very entertaining and hope to read more books in the future from this author.
My rating is 5 stars.

This whole series is so worth reading! They excel at suspense and grabbing the heart of the reader, pulling them into the plethora of happenings in the book. The series has a total of four books that can be read as stand-alone stories though I found reading them in order helped enhance my understanding of the plot and characters.
The titles in order are: Convenient Lies, Twisted Lies followed by Generous Lies, which comes before this final novel I am sharing my thoughts on today.Robin weaves such a well-crafted plot that brings the reader into the story from the first page, and then keep turning the pages with all the twists and turns in the plot.I felt like I was right there observing what was happening around me even though I was reading the book.
Time flew by quickly and I was unaware of what was going on around me because I was lost in the pages!Right th…
