Lee Brandt works for a government agency as a computer engineer.  He discovers a security breach that he can’t decipher completely so he calls an old professor friend for help.  His professor says he has just the person, a student doing research before starting a doctorate degree, to help Lee with this problem.  Lee is stunned when he meets the student.  However, he quickly realizes she is extremely intelligent, dedicated and knows her computerease inside and out.
Jennifer Akihara is used to how men see her, but that doesn’t mean she has to like it!  She has never dated; instead, she has concentrated on her schooling.  She is an expert in her field and has worked with the FBI and NSA already at the age of twenty-five.  She agrees to help Lee find the breach.  In doing so, she triggers an alert to the perpetrators of the breach and sets in motion 48 hours of life or death events for herself and Lee.  When in the midst of these dangerous situations, she watches Lee pray.  She knows he has prayed at other times as well that are not so dangerous.  A lifelong agnostic, Jenn begins to wonder what or Who Lee has in his life.  What has she been missing?
Whew!  This book as enough action to keep any reader glued to the pages.  While the technical computer jargon was above my understanding most of the time, it wasn’t excessive and I was still able to understand what was going on in the story.  I thought that the term used for the terrorists, “goons”, was overused and detracted from the deadly menace they posed.  However, I loved the rapport between Lee and Jenn with their witty remarks and honesty.  I chuckled sometimes at their humorous interactions.  I thought Lee was a strong Christian example for Jenn to see Christ at work in someone’s life.  She could see he lived what he believed by his actions and not just his words.  I did not think the tone preachy or overdone at all.  This book is a very good start to what appears to be an action-packed, exciting, and intense adventure series.  I would recommend this book and am looking forward to the reading the second book in the series.
My rating is 4 stars.
