Title: Moon Over Maalaea Bay (Pure Genius #3)
Author: H. L. Wegley
Publisher: Harbourlight Books
Lee Brandt and his new wife Jennifer have just arrived in Hawaii for their honeymoon. They step out to get an iced coffee on their first night together as husband and wife when Jenn is kidnapped. The story skyrockets from there and doesn’t descend until the last chapter so hold on tight! Lee searches desperately for his wife when his adopted daughter Katie calls. She is frantic to help and soon Katie and Granddad Akihara are on their way to Hawaii as well. Lee contacts his friend Agent Peterson of the FBI to alert him to what has happened to Jenn. He tells Lee he will be there immediately. So Lee has help on the way, but can’t sit around waiting for it. He takes matters into his own hands and begins doing some investigating himself. What he discovers makes him ill, but determined to find Jenn at all costs.
Jenn is delighted to have married the love of her life, but while he steps away to get coffee and she looks at jewelry, her honeymoon night turns out vastly different than she thought it would. She is bound and gagged, then drugged and transported to a yacht. She knows her chances of escape are next to nothing, but she has to try. God wouldn’t bring her and Lee together only to separate them permanently. Her faith sustains her and keeps her from panicking. She is smart and resourceful, so she uses the brain God gave her to its best advantage.
There is a lot that happens in this story that I didn’t want to give away, so readers will have to get the book to see what happens to Jenn, Lee, Katie and others. I really like how the author has Lee, Jenn and now Katie live their lives unashamedly bold for Christ. They witness to their enemies, their relatives and anyone else who may be watching how they live. The faith aspect is well-woven into the lives of the characters and flows seamlessly into the storyline. I can hardly wait to reconnect with Lee and Jenn and the other characters in the fourth book in the series titled, Triple Threat. If you like nonstop action, faith-filled lives and romance, don’t miss this series!
My rating is 5 stars.
