A Reason to Stay

Title:  A Reason to Stay (A Texas Gold Novel #3)
Author:  Kellie Coates Gilbert
Pages:  336
Year:  2015
Publisher:  Revell
My rating is 4 stars.
The other two novels in this series are, A Woman of Fortune and Where Rivers Part.  Each book can be read as a stand-alone, so if you dislike one you can try another.  Why do I suggest trying another?  Well, A Woman of Fortune wasn’t bad, but it just didn’t draw me in whereas Where Rivers Part captured my heart.  Now, with A Reason to Stay, it was a little hard to read though not due to the author’s writing.  There is a scene in chapter two that unfortunately is reminiscent of an actual event where a shooter took the life of a reporter, cameraman and injured the woman being interviewed.  For me that was very hard to read even though in a fictional world and with made up characters.  I don’t think the author intended to hurt anyone by including this scene in her novel, but it might be hard for some to read.
The main female character is Faith who is working in the media as a news anchor when the news station decides to hire a professional group to shadow Faith for a couple weeks.  With the viewership in slow decline, they want to find out what changes need to be made in order to bring the ratings back up.  Faith isn’t happy about this and it appears this professional group peeks into every part of her life, both professional and personal.
Faith was not happy in her marriage and hadn’t decided which route she wanted to take.  Geary, her husband had a definite view of how he wanted some things done in his marriage to Faith.  Both bring their baggage into the marriage as well as their brokenness, which must be dealt with or their marriage is over even though it has barely begun.
The best truth of the whole book is that when we turn things over to God and work on our marriage, amazing things happen.  It isn’t a magic wand; it is hard work mostly on our knees in prayer and some may take part in counseling.  However, God leads couples to face their hearts’ truth and knowing He will do above and beyond all we ask or think brings hope.  I for one can testify that God does heal peoples’ broken marriages and can cause growth.  He also renews, restores and refreshes!  So it is so good that the author gives the readers real hope that is found in God and God alone!

This whole series is so worth reading! They excel at suspense and grabbing the heart of the reader, pulling them into the plethora of happenings in the book. The series has a total of four books that can be read as stand-alone stories though I found reading them in order helped enhance my understanding of the plot and characters.
The titles in order are: Convenient Lies, Twisted Lies followed by Generous Lies, which comes before this final novel I am sharing my thoughts on today.Robin weaves such a well-crafted plot that brings the reader into the story from the first page, and then keep turning the pages with all the twists and turns in the plot.I felt like I was right there observing what was happening around me even though I was reading the book.
Time flew by quickly and I was unaware of what was going on around me because I was lost in the pages!Right th…
