My rating is 5 stars.
One of the reasons I read these books is because the stories are rich, faith is a component of the book and there definitely is suspense.  Secondly, no two books are the same!  In the novel, we meet Melissa who disappeared shortly after high school graduation because she witnessed a murder.  Her father would never divulge her whereabouts or request she come see him until he is days from dying due to cancer.  Her father wanted to see his daughter one more time along with the grandchild he has never laid eyes on!
When Melissa dares to go to the hospital, her life and the life of her daughter is in constant jeopardy.  Nate who is an off duty officer is entering a mall to purchase Christmas gifts when he spots Melissa someone he knew in high school. Nate calls out to Melissa who begins running.  Nate is attempting to catch up with her until he realizes two other men  are closing in to catch Melissa.
The novel was really high-tension reading from start to finish.  Melissa is constantly on the run and she thinks she can take care of herself and her daughter as she has for five years.  How the plot brings the high school sweethearts together after ten years has passed was spell-binding.
I hope you enjoy the surprise suspects and those who should have been arrested years ago as much as I did.  As the past comes into the present for both of the two main characters, Melissa and Nate, so too does the danger increase exponentially!
