A Powerful Secret (The Worthington Destiny #2)

Title:  A Powerful Secret (The Worthington Destiny #2)
Author:  Kevin Leman & Jeff Nesbit
Pages:  352
Year:  2016
Publisher:  Revell
Sean Worthington is the main focus of this story, but his family plays a big part in the events as well as they are so close to one another.  Will has just removed himself from the senate race in New York because of some incriminating pictures involving Sean and a terrorist bomber as well as Will’s mother’s secret threatened to be made public.  This happened in book one of the series, A Perfect Ambition.
Now in this book Sean finds out his mother’s secret and drops off the grid for two weeks whereby his family thinks he is dead, but he is just taking time to process this information and form a plan on how to proceed with his family and his career.  He had thought about throwing his hat in the ring to run for governor of New York, but with this new information that won’t be possible.  He also thinks he might be ready to settle down with someone and he has the perfect girl in mind, but will she feel the same?  Meanwhile, Sean’s brother Will and his sister Sarah are fighting to take down the corporate bad guys and put them behind bars while trying to keep the family intact and avoid a media circus.
I loved the sense of family protectiveness displayed by all the Worthingtons.  They had each other’s backs no matter what.  I also liked seeing each of the Worthington brothers learning to trust that still small voice that is God.  They aren’t quite ready to admit that yet, but they are opening their eyes to the possibility of God as their sister Sarah is a Christian.  They have seen what can happen when they try to control their own lives…disaster.  Oh boy, can I relate to that!  This story has got political maneuvering, intrigue, tension, drama, and more.  I found the political aspect of this story very interesting as well as seeing the consequences of one action and its rippling effect on people.  Most chapters are three to four pages which keeps the story moving along at a quick clip.  I eagerly look forward to the next installment in the series, A Primary Decision, due out in the fall of 2016.
My rating is 5 stars.
