Cara Luecht writes a type of fiction that grabs the attention and heart of readers while developing a truly intriguing story.  Here readers read about a small town barely hanging on during a drought that has already lasted three years.  Many of the residents who are still living there remember when the grass was green and the wheat fields abundant.  Now, when they see a black cloud forming on the horizon, it isn’t for a coming rainstorm but a horrible dust storm that can last for days.

The local merchant’s brother comes roaring into this setting with a new car, clothes and a reason he refuses to state.  Randall Mitchell is going after the only girl who is young enough to interest him and she believes that in him she can assist caring for her family because he presents a rich front.  What begins to unravel is a man who has come with sinister reasons and a dark secret.  Will he be found out?

The story really had me wondering what was going to happen to several of the town’s residents whether it was during a dust storm, spiritually or otherwise.  Cara writes very interesting tales that I find myself easily drawn into and coming away feeling I won’t forget the book any time soon.  The Owen’s family, which is at the center of the story, will grab your heart and inspire hope against hopelessness that life will turn out for the better.

Enjoy the book and perhaps share with a family member or friend!
