Wow!From the very start of the book, this story stole my breath and at times sped up the beating of my heart. The ending was so climatic I couldn’t read it fast enough! The setting is the UP of Michigan. There is a woman who cannot remember who she is, the name of the child in her arms, or that she has been badly hurt!At first, she moves almost on auto pilot, but she cannot tell why or how she knows what she must do to keep “him” from finding her again. After some more time, she remembers her name, and with more time her past.
Her husband, Nick, is a captain for the Michigan State Police, and he and his wife are in the middle of a divorce. When he goes to pick up his little girl, the scene he encounters scares him.He cannot locate either his wife or 2-year-old daughter. After a while, he begins to be taunted by a person who has had something to do w…

There are times when I am on social media and I see a book in an ad or some people are posting about it because it is a new author. When I saw this book cover, it intrigued me and the little synopsis I read online drew me to read the story. One of the aspects of the book that is exceptional is the author’s ability to write a very engaging mystery with a surprise ending.
The second reason I liked the book was because it talked about a little-known group of people called Irish travelers.Doing a google search will show you more information about these unique people who live in America.Being of Irish descent myself, this was another thread that brought my interest in the story up another notch. How the author depicts these fascinating people is done very well, showing the tension between the “clan” and those known outside their clan and referred t…

Title:The Sea Before Us (Sunrise at Normandy)
Author: Sarah Sundin
Pages: 384
Year: 2018
Publisher: Revell
My rating 5 out of 5 stars!
The new series by Sarah Sundin is a heart-touching tale of events leading up to D-Day through fictional characters. There are three brothers from Texas who are torn apart by a disaster and choices made by the oldest son Wyatt and the other sons.I began reading the book with such hunger, knowing the tale told is but a shadow of the reality that many endured both in America and England.
The story encapsulates the hard times of war, the love stories, battles and yes even death as those were parts of the reality young men dealt with who were barely out of their teens.Wyatt is a Navy Lt. Commander in the U. S. Navy who, though trained as an accountant and was to pick up the leadership of his father’s business, is now planning methodically with others the Navy’s plans for D-Day.
Wyatt begins to develop feelings for a WREN Officer named Dorothy who has suffered so muc…

Title:Until We Find Home
Author: Cathy Gohlke
Pages: 432
Year: 2018
Publisher: Tyndale House Publishers
My rating is 5 out of 5 stars.
One of the reasons I so enjoy Cathy Gohlke’s novels is due to the time she takes in researching and crafting a riveting tale based on historical fact.Even more so is her note to readers at the end of the story where she shares with such transparency what God has been teaching her through her writing of the book.It should remind us that authors are people too who want to grow in their walk with the Lord and share Him with many via the medium of stories, which is so like Jesus!
Cathy pens a very heart-stirring story that depicts different characters from other nations, backgrounds, and experiences during WWII.Claire is an American living in Paris and is helping to get as many Jewish children out of the city before Hitler’s army comes with their death warrants and hate filled regime.Claire’s character has no idea how to care for the small group of children of va…

If you have ever read any of Colleen’s novels, you know that she can write a story that grabs your heart, attention and interest from the first word.If you have never read any of Colleen’s books, you are missing out on some very engaging and riveting books. The difference I noticed with her new series was how quickly the action, danger, and intrigue begins.Quite literally, it starts with the Prologue; there is no build up or lead up to the climax, it all starts right out of the gate with the first word!It never lets up.The tension and thrills are palpable throughout the whole novel. It begins with someone chasing a character named Nora that sets the stage by giving a hint that something nefarious is going on.Then, in chapter one, which picks up the story a year later, I was wondering how the events depicted in the Prologue would fit in…

Title:High Treason (FBI Task Force)
Author: Diann Mills

Year: 2018
Publisher: Tyndale
My rating is 5+ out of 5 stars.
Diann Mills is a genius of an author whose novels are captivating and faith challenging in unique ways. Each novel she writes is with a purpose of sharing a wonderful story with a message of faith in Christ. Here is her recent offering that for this reader was her best yet!At the end of the book, the author lets us know that she wanted to show readers we can model Jesus regardless of where we are or who we are with at any time.
You don’t have to read the other books in the series before picking up this book as each really is self-contained held together only by being part of the FBI Task Force series subtitle. The two main characters are Kord, an FBI agent who is paired with Monica. She works for the CIA in protecting a Saudi family visiting the U.S. Besides interagency tensions, these two characters are also at odds as Monica is a believer in Christ and Kord is still…

Author: Kimberley Woodhouse

Year: 2018
Publisher: Barbour Books
My rating 5 out of 5 stars.
When I start a story, it sometimes takes me a minute or two to find myself engaged in the book.It doesn’t matter what type of book I am reading. After I finished this book, I took time to contemplate and consider my review before I began writing.Kimberley Woodhouse is a favorite author of mine. I have read most of her stories, including those with Traci Peterson. One of the strongest points of Kim as an author is her attention to research and detail, which then carries over into her books.
I understand by reading other reviews that some didn’t care for the book or thought the hype of the book didn’t live up to the reality. Each person has an opinion, but what I don’t get is how or why reviews are downgraded simply because of marketing techniques used or it didn’t live up to a person’s expectations.Well, even if to you think the book was…

The colonial period in our history is one of my favorite time periods to read about and Laura Frantz is an author who writes well-written tales that will captivate readers for hours. This latest novel is no exception. The setting is colonial Williamsburg and the nearby towns in the year 1775.

On the website are the videos for each of the 26 episodes that coincide with the study by the same title. You can purchase the study guide at https://ffoz.com/a-promise-of-what-is-to-come-study-guide.html
The study guide is optional if you just want to watch the video lessons on the website and take notes if you desire.I really enjoyed the nuggets of wisdom and the short trips to Israel to get understanding of the meaning behind various Hebrew words and their usage.I enjoyed seeing the many different sites and places that are beautiful in Israel as Arron taught. The only negative of the videos is the cameraman in Israel was at times not so steady with the camera and it was a little distracting.
I bought the study guide so I pre-read what the lesson was about and so I can share it with my family. The front of the study guide says it best, “…Kingdom-focused and …

Cold Water Author: Samuel Parker

Title:Cold Water
Author: Samuel Parker

Year: 2018
Publisher: Revell
My rating is 5 out of 5 stars.
Samuel Parker’s second novel, Cold Water, is a heart-pounding, engaging mystery that captures the mind of the reader from beginning to end.To me, it is a very unique story as the characters have no last names and very slowly and methodically the author reveals the interesting history behind the town’s inhabitants. As I read, I was drawn into the mystery behind Michael’s uniqueness in that it seems wherever he goes death is the result be it nature or sicknesses in others.
Michael grew up in the town of Cold Water and returned after spending time in prison.Readers will get an intriguing look in to what happens to Michael while incarcerated and how the warden deals with him to protect Michael and the other inmates. When Michael entered prison, he was a boy. When he returns to Cold Water, he is a man who just wants to be left alone. But the town’s head honcho won’t let him be, which sets Mic…

This is another great suspense thriller from Nancy Mehl!I have read most of her books and have found them all to be well-written and exciting with plenty of tension that builds to an exciting climax. The setting in this story is in a small town in Arkansas in the present day.Kate is in the Witness Protection Program and living under an assumed identity. She was the only witness to her sister’s murder six years ago.It is soon found out that her sister was the victim of a serial killer.Tony DeLuca is the Federal Marshal who protected her during the trial all those years ago.Kate developed a crush on Tony, but he kept his distance, thinking she was too young. Now, new evidence has been discovered that might clear the man Kate sent to jail.Tony is sent to bring Kate back for another trial.
