The Solace of Water

Title:  The Solace of Water

Author: Elizabeth Byler Younts

Pages:  368

Year:  2018

Publisher:  Thomas Nelson

My rating:  4 out of 5 stars.

If you are unfamiliar with this author, it has been awhile since she has shared her imaginative and heart-gripping stories with audiences.  My introduction to her tales began with her books titled, A Promise to Cherish, Promise to Return, and Promise to Keep.  Now, after a hiatus, the author brings a new tale that will keep audiences turning pages for hours.

The Solace of Water is a deep, riveting tale that encompasses friendships that are unique and during a very trying time of life for three women with diverse lives.  Like so much of reality in the world we live in today, the story reflects one of tragedy and yet the beauty that can be born out of the ashes left behind.

What occurs in the book shows us what might happen when life can blindside people and the unlikely rebuilding of lives in such touching ways.  The tale takes place in the 1950s in the Deep South with all the nuances of the time and place.  The life journeys of Delilah, Sparrow, and Emma bring about the unlikelihood of their lives intersecting which then produces some expected reactions and prejudices and some surprises as well.

The beauty of the story is found in the truth that against the darkest of night, hope and faith shines the brightest.  When forgiveness is extended and received, it touches the heart and soul of the characters, which in turn can touch the heart of the audience that journeys through the story until the very end.

This whole series is so worth reading! They excel at suspense and grabbing the heart of the reader, pulling them into the plethora of happenings in the book. The series has a total of four books that can be read as stand-alone stories though I found reading them in order helped enhance my understanding of the plot and characters.
The titles in order are: Convenient Lies, Twisted Lies followed by Generous Lies, which comes before this final novel I am sharing my thoughts on today.Robin weaves such a well-crafted plot that brings the reader into the story from the first page, and then keep turning the pages with all the twists and turns in the plot.I felt like I was right there observing what was happening around me even though I was reading the book.
Time flew by quickly and I was unaware of what was going on around me because I was lost in the pages!Right th…
