Title: Tell Her No
Lies
Author: Kelly Irvin
Pages: 352
Year: 2018
Publisher: Thomas Nelson
My rating: 5 out of 5
stars
When I started the book, it reminded me of other novels that
began with a similar type plot, but then the story took off in a direction I
had not anticipated! The main character
is woman named Nina who loves photography.
She feels safest behind the camera.
Her background is unique. Her
personality has strength and convictions, and she has placed barriers around
her heart due to past hurts. Nina is
also the prime subject in the murder of her adoptive father, and it seems as
though there are forces at work to pile up the evidence or get rid of her.
The author takes time to slowly develop her plot,
personalities and quirks of characters.
Add in some adventure, action and romance and out comes a very
entertaining mystery! The story is one
of climbing out from the depths of despair and deciding to make different
choices as well as show the faces people rarely see on the streets. It’s a tale about a father who turns out to be
someone other than what he showed the world, and it impacted Nina’s ability to
believe in God.
Two men want her heart, and readers will enjoy seeing that
aspect play out in the story with the ending one of pure joy! I haven’t read Kelly Irvin’s prior offerings,
but I may just have to do so now, knowing how well this book is written. It was worth the time taken to read and
relish the adventure! So, if you are
looking for a solid story with threads of romance, mystery, faith, action, etc.,
look no further! Here is a novel that
engages the heart and mind of readers, delivering hope in a huge way!
